Halo Master Chief Collection will add new microtransactions for cosmetics

the developer 343 Industries says he is “exploring” new microtransactions for Halo: The Master Chief Collectionwhich would make specific customization items purchasable through the renamed Season Points.

as explained 343 in his latest blog post, the existing coin of MCC, Season Points, will be renamed as Spartan Points “in a future update.”

As a separate change intended to make the 1,000+ items tied to Season Points more available to new players or those who “want to advance (or skip) the grind,” the studio is “internally exploring a potential new feature for the future in the form of purchasable Spartan Points.”

“It is prudent to note here that we are happy with the current system of how players earn Spartan points, completing challenges and leveling up through the game,” says the studio.

“This would be an optional and additive alternative for gamers who may find the sheer amount of content to be an intimidating amount of play time… In the interest of transparency with our dedicated and passionate community, we wanted to inform you of this exploration up front and provide the assurance that purchasable Spartan Points would be an added feature.”

It is not clear when Spartan Points can be purchased at Master Chief Collectionor what kind of value you will get for your money.

That said, for what 343 even mentioned the idea in this way, we can reasonably assume that this addition is more of a ‘when’ that a ‘Yes’.

343 also says he will share more details about the Spartan Points that can be purchased in the future, so it’s probably safe to leave this as an inevitability.
